Fashion

Materials:

  • A white or off-white structures fabric, such as linen or poly-cotton suiting
    of 1,5 x1,5 m
  • Threads of the same color

* These materials can be bought at Satwa Street. There are many shops close to Emirates post and the big mosque.

Tools:

Scissors, needles, pins, tailor’s chalk, paper, ruler, and pens or pencils

Techniques:

Cutting, pleating, and smocking. You can see some tutorials here: How to Sew Honeycomb Smocking and How to Sew Lattice Smocking

Exercise:

Each student must use the whole fabric, and it can’t be subdivided into smaller pieces. The transformation process should include at least two of the techniques mentioned above.

The fabric should be used to create an element above the shoulders. It could be a headpiece, an element for the neck, for the ears, etc. The finished item has to be 3D and shaped to the chosen body part; it must not be a flat piece.
